Database Management Services
Deployment, monitoring, backup, recovery and performance tuning for relational and NoSQL databases.
What we do
We deploy, monitor, back up and tune your databases so they stay predictable under growth and recoverable when it matters.
Backup and Recovery
Scheduled backups and snapshots, with restore testing that proves recoverability rather than assuming it.
Performance Tuning
Indexing, query tuning and capacity planning driven by measured behaviour.
High Availability
Replication, clustering and failover strategies matched to your recovery objectives.
Schema and Data Modelling
Schema and index design that keeps query performance predictable as data grows.
Migrations and Upgrades
Planned version upgrades and data migrations with tested rollback paths.
Monitoring and Alerting
Query-level visibility, replication health checks and alerting on the metrics that predict failure.
Common challenges
Database incidents are usually preceded by a warning sign that nobody was measuring. We start by measuring.
- Backups that exist but have never actually been restored
- Queries that performed adequately at small scale and fail as data grows
- Unplanned downtime during routine maintenance or version upgrades
- No visibility of replication health or capacity until it becomes an incident
Our approach
We start by measuring the current workload — slow queries, lock contention, replication lag and growth rates — so tuning targets the actual bottleneck rather than the suspected one.
We treat recovery as something to prove rather than assume, running restore tests and documenting the exact recovery procedure for whoever is on call.
Technology
MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis, on AWS and other cloud platforms.
FAQ
How often should we test restores?
On a schedule tied to your recovery objectives, and always after any change to backup configuration, retention or schema. An untested backup is an assumption, not a safeguard.
Can you tune performance without changing our schema?
Often, yes. Index creation and query-level changes resolve most performance issues on their own. Where a schema change is genuinely needed, we present it separately with the trade-offs stated.
Do you support NoSQL databases?
Yes — MongoDB and Redis are within our normal scope, including replica set design, backup and connection management.
Do you handle major version upgrades?
Yes, as planned work with rehearsed rollback, rather than as an in-place change during an incident.
